I have referred in the past to the incredible difference between God’s interaction with His people before the Holy Spirit began indwelling them and after. Pentecost is all about that amazing moment in all of time, space and eternity. This verse shows how God would often show His will to His followers. Between Jesus ascension and the coming of the Holy Spirit we see the final use of casting lots which was a familiar form of divination in the Old Testament. In the book of Acts, to determine who would take Judas place with the 12 Apostles, they prayed and sought God. Then they cast lots to choose between to two men who attained the high qualifications required to serve in that role. Today God still speaks to those who seek Him through prayer and His Word using clear biblical parameters for discerning His will. Instead of casting lots His Holy Sporit makes His will known to those who earnestly desire and seek it. What do you need Him to show you today? Line your needed request up with His revealed truth, scripture, seek wise counsel from strong leaders and then listen to His Spirit. I’m so glad that drawing a card or rolling a die is unnecessary to hear Him these days. Today seek God’s plan for your journey then quietly listen as He speaks. #BeTheEdge
