“Whoever loves a quarrel loves sin; whoever builds a high gate invites destruction.”
I have known people, even had a few in my life and family, who if you say black they say white. If you declare a position on an issue they immediately take the other side. If I say Auburn they say Alabama. Now that’s tough. They seem to love to argue just for arguments sake. It was mostly done in fun but occasionally it would get a bit uncomfortable. Thankfully as believers we don’t need to get caught up in that type of arguing. God’s truth stands on its own. If in a discussion about God and His truth someone starts to argue we can step back, not take it personal and let them argue with God. It’s truly not our fight. Apologetics is great for honest discussion but arguing for arguments sake is not. Too often believers think it’s their job to defend God. It’s ok, He’s a really big God and can handle Himself. And, unlike us He can actually move directly to the heart of the matter, their heart, and go to work. I love the story of Jesus and the woman at the well. At one point she tried to bring up an argument about where people should worship God. I have actually seen similar arguments about churches today. Jesus wouldn’t take the bait. He simply told her it didn’t matter which place. He said we worship God in spirit and truth. Today avoid defending God and let Him defend Himself. #BeTheEdge
