Proverbs 18:1 NIV

“An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.”

I keep seeing stories about some individual in a battle with their homeowners association . Basically a person moves into a neighborhood. At the home closing they are given a copy of the covenants to sign. At that point they have agreed to live by the rules and conditions in those covenants. At some point some of them decide the covenants are too restrictive, they push against them and ultimately there is conflict. I’ve seen this up close in a situation that didn’t involve me but was in our old neighborhood. It seemed apparent that one individual continued to be in conflict with all his neighbors. I wondered why he moved there knowing the rules. Sometimes it may be as Solomon described, just an unfriendly person. I know numerous people spoke to this neighbor one on one but he seemed determined to be at odds with them. In it’s simplest form this just reminds us that there will always be contentious people who ignore good counsel and choose to stay at odds with others. Be that as it may, we have the choice to not be one of those people. Today look for ways to get along, to look past little conflicts and live in peace. #BeTheEdge
