“The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.”
Jeremiah gives us this same thought in a slightly different way in Jer. 2:13. “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” What is in a person is often deep, dark and cold. What comes from from God is fresh, flowing, crisp and clear. Jesus referred to Himself as the source of Living water. He is therefore able to offer us a well of living water within us springing up to eternal life. That certainly sounds pretty good to me. Stagnant, dirty water as opposed to fresh flowing water. No decision, right? Well, actually there is. We choose daily to enjoy Gods living water as our flowing life source or we choose this worlds deep, dirty water. Some theologians believe the deep waters in this passage belong to a wise man and the fountain of rushing waters are the deep wisdom which flows forth from that source to all those who receive his wise teaching. No doubt both understandings are capable of being true and in this instance there are great scriptures indicating both scenarios. The main point is God is the source of wisdom and we benefit individually and corporately by seeking and sharing wisdom from the true source of living water. Today be refreshed in His truth and share wisely what He has given you. #BeTheEdge
“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” Jesus
