Proverbs 18:4 NIV

“The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.”

I have a stream, or a creek (I’m never sure what the difference is), running through my property into our lake. It’s very steady. However, after a big rain, it rushes by and makes for a great sight and sound that is very soothing. Deep waters and rushing streams are not an example of Solomon’s usual good/bad comparison. Deep waters show the inner life of a person. They reflect their core and what life has built into them through the work, or lack thereof, of the Spirit of God. That is why older men and women can seem calm and steady in the midst of situations that cause others to panic or lash out. The rushing stream is how we bring refreshment and wisdom to those around us. It is the outlet for the work bubbling up from the deep waters of God’s wise saints. Our life journey needs to be built on growing more like Jesus in the hidden and secret places of our lives. Then we have a reservoir of fresh and growing wisdom and joy to share through our lives with everyone we encounter. That’s being what Jesus referred to as salt and light. Today, grow and flow. #BeTheEdge

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” Acts ‭3‬:‭19‬ ‭NIV‬
