“A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.” ‬‬

The scripture writers often compare kings to lions. When a lion is hungry and devouring its prey it has been know to let loose a terrifying roar. Many kings of the Bible are talked about as wicked and often evil as they rage at and “devour” their subjects. In the New Testament we find Satan described as a roaming lion seeking whom he can devour. In Revelation we see Jesus described as a lion who is devouring the wicked and the enemies of His children. Suffice it to say that their is no circumstance when the image in scripture of this out of control king or raging lion is desirable. Solomon shows us the contrast of the king who delights in his followers. God is pleased with and protecting His followers. As we live in His Truth we find life, though difficult at times, saturated with His blessing. In Palestine dew was a basically never seen blessing. Dew causes growth and refreshes the thirst of the ground. It was a rare occurrence in this dry, hot and dusty middle eastern region. As His crowd considered the difference between a lions rage which came from anger and produced fear and the soft, gentle dew of the morning they could understand very clearly the message to steer clear of those things that would anger their king or even their God and those acts of faithful obedience that pleased Him. Today live and walk in God’s truth and be refreshed in your soul. #BeTheEdge
