“Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”?”
Not me. Goodness, I wish I could, but I sure can’t. The other day, I was talking to a friend about a very difficult situation she found herself in. She had every right to want God to punish the other person for so grossly mistreating her and her family. It was blatant. When I called her about a couple of project items, I first checked in to see how she was doing. I had a plan that felt biblical, would help her get her way, and might even help her get even. Before I could share my brilliant manipulation to get even, she shared what God was teaching her about blessing those who do her wrong. That certainly killed my plan right in its tracks! I told her, and we had a laugh before moving on to the meeting. I’m so far from the completed cleansing God is doing in me. Thankfully, when He considers me, He sees His Son. I’m clean, pure, and holy thanks to the covering of Jesus over my broken and sinful self. I cannot do a thing to stand pure before my King. It is only He who can present me as righteous. That’s not just okay; it’s perfect. The challenge is not to clean up; it’s to draw closer to our Cleaner. Today, let God do the cleaning. #BeTheEdge
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7 NIV
