“My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,”
Solomon often reminds us of the incredible value and privilege of building a repository of God’s truth in our hearts and minds. I’m preparing a message to preach in a couple of weeks, and it is all about the amazing promises of Jesus. He made 105 specific promises to us in the Gospels. Jesus’ words make up less than 2% of the Bible. Even in the New Testament, only about 10% consists of His words, the red letters. Of course, we know that 100% of Scripture is the Word of God. God makes more than 8,000 promises to us throughout His Word. As I reviewed Jesus’ 105 promises, it became clear that we should never fear or worry. Instead, there should be a deep sense of joy and peace, no matter what comes into our lives. His promises cover everything, and He has never broken a single one—not once in all the millennia. The reason we often lack this confidence is that we cannot easily recall the relevant promise when we need it most. Solomon’s instruction to store up the commands of God is the key. Today, find great peace and confidence by storing God’s promises in your heart. #BeTheEdge
