“The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.”
Another translation reads, “Torturous is the way of a man who is laden with sin.” Haven’t we all seen that? Society is full of images of men and women in gutters, prisons, or all alone because of a lifestyle of sin. As I witness these lives, it is easy to picture the torment and torture that demons are inflicting on them. Demons are real. We don’t like to dwell on the idea of evil beings attacking us, but when Satan was cast from heaven, a third of the angels were thrown out with him. These evil beings don’t sit quietly on the sidelines watching history unfold. They pursue the agenda of their leader: to steal, kill, and destroy everyone they can—physically, mentally, and spiritually. Thankfully, for every demon, there are two angels who remained to serve our Heavenly Father and His children—us. It is hard to picture any of us as innocent, but a better understanding of this translation is “pure in heart.” That’s not a bad goal. “The pure in heart will be right in action; he follows his conscience and God’s law and goes directly on his course without turning or hesitation” (Bible Hub). That’s our goal. Today, conduct yourself as a Christ follower. #BeTheEdge
