“The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.”
One of my favorite Bible truths is found in Eph. 2. It tells us that as we live our life pursuing God we will walk into a journey of purpose and joy that He has prepared for us in advance. Here Solomon reminds us that that is not the case for the guilty, actually those who are “alien from what is right”. This person is defined as laden or weighed down with their guilt, they are unable to walk a straight, pleasant path because of their choices to rebel and walk contrary to the way of God’s design. Their path is crooked and difficult. Their desires lead them into perverse and dangerous places. The path of the innocent, God follower is straightforward, simple and relatively uniform compared to the guilty. The innocent are innocent because they have accepted God’s provision for their sin which has removed all their guilt. The guilty often believe it is God who sends them the crooked and difficult path. There is no doubt that He allows it, often in the hope that as they contrast their journey with His followers they will desire to know Him. As the innocent follow God’s laws, which guides their conscience, they can live and walk without fear or hesitation. Today live the life of the Christ follower and enjoy the trip. #BeTheEdge
