Proverbs 2:21 NIV

“For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it;”

I find it fascinating to reflect at times on the difference between those who lived and followed God in the days of the Old Testament and those of us who follow Him these days. It us easy to forget what it means to look at our relationship with God and who He is with the ability to reflect on the cross, the birth of the church and the opening of eternity in front of us. When Solomon wrote these verses they reflected an understanding of earthly rewards but not heavenly rewards. That concept had not been revealed yet. When he spoke to them of living in the land it was the best thing they could imagine. The promised land. That special place God set apart for them, His people, filled with every great thing. Milk and honey flowing, peace after great victory and His constant presence. Their dream place. Today we know that those of us who live upright lives and stand blameless in Jesus have the ultimate reward waiting, eternity with Him in heaven. Our inheritance. We have His promise of this great reward. With it comes the responsibility of living a holy life. The other huge difference between us now and them then is the Holy Spirit. When Jesus went and opened the way to heaven for us He sent His Holy Spirit to indwell us.  They had no such indwelling power and presence. Today allow His Spirit to lead you as you live for Him. #BeTheEdge
