“but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.”
That’s not a pretty picture of someone’s future. Amazingly there are some who know what is awaiting them and pursue a wicked life anyway. They weigh what they “enjoy” now and block out or deny what is to come. To the reader of the time this verse would send a shiver down their spine. To them home, home land and family was everything. We are as a nation a very transient people. The average American moves 11.7 times in their lifetime. Whether for job, better opportunities or just a desire to change their surroundings. This was unheard of in Solomon’s day. Even during the great exodus the Israelites started to complain about the move and wanted to return to the familiar, though awful, life in Egypt. The image of losing their connection, being uprooted from their homeland and family was the worst possible life circumstance imaginable to the Jew. Even today some fail to grasp the meaning of the nation of Israel and the value of their borders to the Jewish nation. It is rooted in the promise of God to their forefathers. To a greater extent God promised us a homeland with Him. To allow anything this world has to offer to uproot that promise from us should send a shiver down our spine as well. This is not a security of salvation truth it’s a life lived for His Kingdom truth. Today walk with Him and flee the wicked. #BeTheEdge
