Proverbs 22:23 NIV

“for the Lord will take up their case and will exact life for life.”

We know God loves everyone. In this verse, throughout scripture and from Jesus own mouth we also know that the poor have a very special place in His heart. This verse couples with the previous verse and reminds us not only of His love for the poor, downcast and disenfranchised but that He also offers protection and covering for them as well. I was watching a news clip about a group of poor going through a very difficult time these days and it was followed by a comment that they are not our priority when they take resources we want for our services. The point was follower by the comment “it’s our tax dollars they are spending”. I found myself agreeing. That was immediately followed by a rebuke in my spirit. In a very non political thought I’d like to suggest that we want to be sure we operate by God’s economy and not our own. The two are not always in conflict but perhaps there are times they don’t exactly have the same priorities. I don’t know societies answer and I have not been asked to make the decision. I do know that God blessed me with financial capabilities that I will answer to Him for managing by His priorities. In a world where “The average global personal income is $9,733 per year. The average global household income is $12,235 per year. The median per-capita household income is only $2,920 per year,” I am wealthy. I need to complain less about my financial “struggles” and be a Kingdom citizen with what I have. I repeat, this is not political and it’s not necessarily about spending or giving money. It’s about our heart. Today let God reveal how He wants His economy to work in your journey. #BeTheEdge

“Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”” Jesus
