Proverbs 24:11 NASB

“Deliver those who are being taken away to death, and those who are staggering to slaughter, oh hold them back.” Proverbs 24:11 NASB

Yesterday, I read an article on History.com which began with this paragraph: “In a time when Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party was engulfing Europe in hatred and fear, everyday heroes emerged to stand up to the terror. Many fought quietly, as a Swiss diplomat who took advantage of Nazi officers’ respect for paperwork, or the Dutch teacher who saved 600 children by smuggling them out of Nazi-occupied Amsterdam in baskets. Others were more brazen in their defiance, including a teenage girl who, with her sister, shot Nazi officers from her bicycle.” The article told the story of four people who took the ultimate risk on behalf of those who could not defend themselves. Efforts like these saved people like Gerd Manfred Strauss, who survived the Holocaust and came to America where he impacted hundreds of lives that were broken and hurting. He took the legacy of his rescuers and built on it by rescuing others. The Gospel is this same story. God, through His Son, is doing for every person who ever lived or will live what we cannot do for ourselves – rescue us from eternal separation and death. After being rescued through God’s sacrificing of His Son, we are in turn called to devote our lives and resources to doing the same for others. A lot of the unrest we see in today’s world would be mitigated if God’s people quietly went about the work of rescuing the broken and hurting. The world is under attack and it’s not by a political party or ideology. It is by Satan and his evil team. Today, live with an eye on those who need to be rescued and protected and answer your call to help. #BeTheEdge
