“for the evildoer has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.”
They will die. That’s blunt. However being an evildoer and wicked by God’s standard is serious business and He doesn’t play around with that behavior. Nether should we. There is a clear picture in this verse of a hopeless life and physical death. However in an even more frightening understanding of this verse is the reality of spiritual, eternal death. As we saw with Adam and Eve, when they learned that eating the forbidden fruit would lead to death, that too was spiritual, eternal death. This person has nothing to look forward to. I have seen many of this type person lose their passion for life as they have tried and tasted much of what the world offers. They spent much of their lives chasing the empty promises of this world at all cost. Often this pursuit included using and abusing others. It also involved deceiving and cheating others. Their futures are pretty bleak here and into their future. Unless, that’s right there is a hope, they turn to Jesus. You see all of us are or were in just as hopeless a condition. Reconciliation and redemption are God’s speciality. Rescuing the lost. Giving hope to the hopeless. Today live a life of gratitude for God’s intervention. #BeTheEdge
