Proverbs 26:16 NIV

“A sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven people who answer discreetly.”

For four verses Solomon zeros in on sluggards. The English took what in the original was actually lazy and translated it sluggard. Regardless this is an example of a person who thinks they know as much or even more without putting in the effort to study than wise men who diligently studied throughout their lives. Much of the destructive teaching in and around the kingdom of God these days is by those who have not taken the time to really study God’s word and yet believe they are fit to teach and proclaim their opinions as though they are accurate reflections of His deep truths. They are incredibly dangerous, teaching error with confidence and authority. In life the lazy always look for shortcuts yet as is often case there is no shortcut to wisdom and maturity. When seeking wise counsel and teaching look for a little gray in the hair and some history in their journey. Today pursue God and wisdom will come. #BeTheEdge
