“A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.”
There is a saying that lies will die, but truth will endure. This is borne out by eternity. God’s word is truth, and it will live forever. It is perfect. Lies of any sort are evil at their core and will be destroyed by the fires of hell. A flattering mouth may seem better, even easier to live with, and at times almost fun. But it, too, is birthed by evil and is used to hurt and destroy. Proverbs, in particular, and the Bible as a whole mention lying quite often, and it’s never good. As with any sin, it can always be forgiven; however, damage can be done that creates excruciating pain and loss in others’ lives. The word used for truth can be translated as that which is pure. I really like that; it signifies the difference between pure and tainted, between light and darkness, between what is good and what is bad. This is a 100% thing. There’s no piece of truth that can hide a lie. Truth-telling is fresh and cleansing. It brings peace and joy to the honest life. Today, speak the truth. #BeTheEdge
