Proverbs 27:2 NIV

“Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips.”

I was a witness the other day in a case where there were so many character witnesses that the judge had to reduce and limit the number. It would have taken hours for all of them to speak about the person’s character. It was an amazing sight to witness. When the time for each person to speak was also limited, one of the witnesses became angry and said, “There is no way I can say what needs to be said in that short of a time.” Solomon often speaks about the value of a good name and about being above reproach. I was thrilled to be able to speak on this person’s behalf, both regarding the frivolous accusations and their character. In this situation, we also see his encouragement to be humble. It is a great testimony to a person’s character when they remain genuinely humble and quiet about their own life. A lack of humility destroys any semblance of true character. It is this kind of false humility that makes the real thing so attractive. Even the lost world admires a humble spirit. Today, walk as one who recognizes that their gifts are from God and not of their own making. #BeTheEdge.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬
