Proverbs 27:2

“Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips.”

Like so many proverbs this one seems pretty obvious. If you don’t know bragging is obnoxious to those around you than you are pretty clueless. Psychology today puts it this way, “Almost no one likes a show-off but almost everyone likes to show off, at least a little. Some showing off happens by accident and some in a deliberate attempt to manipulate others. In either case, though, you run the risk of looking a bit too satisfied with yourself if not downright conceited“. It can be a very thin line between being proud, excited or informative and boastful. Over the years I’ve introduced many speakers and other guests of note in various settings. It is always interesting to see what they give me to share in their intro.. When we recognize that everything good about us, gifts, talents, accomplishments, all come from God it makes it easier to stay humble. It also gives us the opportunity to speak praise and recognition of God as the source of our story. Today find joy in knowing God loved you enough to give you gifts and talents and celebrate that truth. #BeTheEdge
