“The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”
Of the 20 or 30 verses in my top 10 list, this one is always there. As a highly ADD and very visual learner, I love what it instantly brings to mind. I try diligently not to repeat or reshare stories in these brief devotional thoughts; however, I will violate that rule this morning for an exceptionally poignant story illustrating this truth.
The story goes that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator and author of the Sherlock Holmes series, sent a telegram to 12 men “of great virtue and respected in society.” The telegram read: “Flee! All has been discovered.” Within 24 hours, all 12 had fled the country,” and one was never heard from again. There’s a similar story about Mark Twain. I find it instructive to ponder how I would respond to such a note. I wouldn’t flee, but I would be curious to know what they were referring to. When considering the boldness of a lion, I’m immediately drawn to years of reading *The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe* by C.S. Lewis, where the Christ character is represented by Aslan, the lion. His boldness and goodness always inspire me to live a similar life. Today, walk in the light and live without fear. #BeTheEdge
