“When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding.”
I had a friend the other day who asked me if I wanted a boat or a new truck. I said neither; I was doing just fine. I asked him what prompted his question, and he began to explain to me how he thinks he’s going to come into some money through one of his business ventures. He said, “I just want you to know, when I win, my friends win.” We had a good chuckle together, but I knew in his heart he meant it. Solomon understood this concept. He knew that when Israel had a godly king, the people lived in peace and flourished. When they had a wicked king, they suffered as a result. The Old Testament is full of the suffering and striving of the Israelites. Sadly, they had many more wicked kings than good ones. When a business leader, a parent, or even a community leader follows the wisdom of God, we see the community, the business, and the family prosper—not just financially, but in so many ways. We’ve also witnessed leadership that chose to ignore God and His truth, and we’ve seen the suffering, or certainly the lack of peace and thriving, that results. God’s principles are not meant to punish us, but to help us find peace and joy. Today, identify and follow godly men and women in leadership. #BeTheEdge
