Proverbs 28:2 NASB

“By the transgression of a land many are its princes, but by a man of understanding and knowledge, so it endures.” Proverbs 28:2 NASB

I always felt the best form of government would be a godly theocracy. God guides His leader, that leader tells the rest of us, and we do God’s will. Pretty idealistic or foolish. I’m not really sure which, but I’m very confident we are nowhere near that these days. Solomon is making the observation that when our country is out of control, we end up with a lot of layers of people trying to manage the elements of government that control our lives. Because of our lack of living godly lives it requires a large government to manage our national needs. That being said, it is also clear that a large government with many layers is a curse for its people. I’ve often felt that if the church had done its job for the past 200+ years we would not need the government to care for the poor and needy. The church would be doing it and it would be understood that our Heavenly Father, not our Uncle Sam, was looking after His children. Education, health care, even community strife would be better if God’s people lived as He directed from the beginning of creation. It’s not too late for the church to live like God’s Church was designed. Not the buildings or organized religion, but instead, those of us who are called by His name. Today, step up to His call and serve your King with grace, compassion, and dignity. #BeTheEdge
