Proverbs 28:27

“He who gives to the poor will never want, but he who shuts his eyes will have many curses.” Proverbs 28:27 NASB

There are a number of places in the Bible that remind us that you can’t out give God. This is one of them. As a young Christian, I found it a little self-serving to be challenged to give to God’s work and the world’s needs to watch Him give back to me. Then, I discovered in Malachi where God actually challenges us to give to Him and watch Him throw open the windows of heaven in blessing. He gives us permission to test Him in this area. The reality behind this principle is that, when we give, it does more for us than it ever does for the recipients. The act of turning loose allows us to experience the freedom of trusting in God rather than money or possessions. God is always about drawing us closer into relationship with Him and removing anything we may put the slightest trust in other than Him. As we let go and give away, we are saying “This is yours, not mine Lord.” That simple act, though it may feel difficult, allows God to bless our faithfulness. Today, test Him in this, and enjoy the show. #BeTheEdge

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” Malachi 3:10 NASB
