Proverbs 29:18 NIV

“Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.”

The meaning here is that when God’s truth is not known, as in the days of Eli, people literally run wild. Sound somewhat familiar? God’s word is the source of absolute truth, the only source. As individuals and corporately we live by that truth or we live lives of no restraint, out of control. There is no third option. Some have attempted to blend what they feel is convenient Biblical truth with the contradictory beliefs of the world. Christian denominations have split over this behavior. Credit goes to those who recognize the abandonment of God’s clear truth and leave where it’s been compromised to find a place where it is valued and followed. Solomon promises blessing to those who choose to live by God’s revelation. The other view of this verse tells us that we need God’s vision casters is our lives. Those who walk boldly in God’s word and truth and lead others by holding that truth up. They share a view of how the world looks when the Kingdom of God is boldly pursued. Today check your vision against God’s clear, uncompromising truth. #BeTheEdge
