“A man who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who keeps company with harlots wastes his wealth.” Proverbs 29:3 NASB

This verse begs the question of ‘what does it look like to love wisdom?’ It certainly contrasts the love of wisdom by following that statement with one about throwing away your life in sinful and vain pursuits. Obviously, this passage reinforces that sexual sin should be avoided, but is avoiding the “biggies” all there is to loving wisdom? Wisdom is so much more than living rightly or wrongly. Psychology Today says, “Wisdom is one of those qualities that is difficult to define—because it encompasses so much—but which people generally recognize when they encounter it.” However, as followers of God and His Word we thankfully have it spelled out for us. Wisdom finds its source in God, and we find our love for it in Him. To love Wisdom – true, eternal, godly wisdom – is found in our love for Him. As we grow closer to Him, we grow in wisdom. Today’s motto as lovers of wisdom is to simply love God and hate sin. Though that’s not always easy, it is our goal in Him. Today, pursue your understanding of God and watch your love of Wisdom grow. #BeTheEdge
