Proverbs 29:8 NIV

“Mockers stir up a city, but the wise turn away anger.”

This verse speaks directly about those who mock faith and religion. They are the ones who also despise rulers and leaders who are diligent about having peace and order. This picture shows how a city is destroyed. Over the centuries peaceful and blessed communities have seen disruption by people who selfishly worked against the leaders. We have witnessed this in our country and throughout the world over the past few years. In some ways the Covid pandemic may actually have slowed some of this behavior. In other ways it may be the impetus for some groups to rebel against their leaders. The greatest caution though still speaks of leaders that devalue, persecute and actively ridicule men and women of faith in God and His principles. He contrasts them with those with Godly wisdom who seek to lead and follow in ways that diminish anger and encourage peace. It is a clear difference and the main distinction is how they view God and His followers. As a result there is anger and rioting or peace and civility. It’s important to know that God is not ok with us choosing either. One is openly battling Him, His people and His truth. Not the side you want to be on. However, not getting political, we see what ignoring God’s way and pursuing our own political agenda gets us. It’s not pretty and He will allow those who scorn Him to feel the full wrath of His presence. Today serve God and be an instrument of love and peace. That cannot be defeated. #BeTheEdge
