Proverbs 30:1 NIV

“The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh—an inspired utterance. This man’s utterance to Ithiel: “I am weary, God, but I can prevail.”‬‬

When the prophets spoke God’s prophecies to the people of Israel, it carried a heavy burden for them. They felt a very real sense of whose words they were delivering and the necessity of getting them right. It also carried the weight that, since these were the words of the triune God (Yahweh), the people needed to respond. This was not trivial, and they knew it. It was a heavy burden. They also understood the source well enough to know that ultimately, God Himself would ensure how well His words were received and what would become of His people. It reminds me of two sides of the same coin in our journey as well. In sharing the Gospel, we have a responsibility to share it correctly and kindly. However, we don’t have a responsibility to make anyone respond affirmatively. So we are reminded to handle His words carefully. How we live and what we say should weigh on our spirit, demanding that it be done well. Today, live responsibly and then rest in God’s sovereignty. #BeTheEdge

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬
