Proverbs 30:4 NASB

“Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son’s name? Surely you know.” Proverbs 30:4 NASB

Rhetorical questions, of course. The answers are obviously God, not man. This strikes a similar chord to a couple of chapters in the book of Job. Years ago, I hung a poster in my office as a constant reminder of who we are and who’s in charge. It said the two foundational facts of human enlightenment are: 1. There is a God, and 2. You are not Him. They are clear and simple truths that can be instrumental in helping us navigate life. Grasping these truths helps us to approach life both humbly and powerfully. The humility comes from knowing that apart from God we are helpless and in need of a Savior. And the power comes from allowing God to live in and through us as He designed us to operate. Not a bad mix. However, when we forget either of these truths we are destined to failure, suffering and ultimately emptiness. Knowing these truths and living them out in our daily walk brings a confident assurance that is accompanied by peace, joy, and the ability to love freely and fully. Today, walk in the confident awareness of your limitations and God’s omnipotence. #BeTheEdge

“The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, “There is no God.”” Psalms 10:4 NASB
