Proverbs 30:4 NIV

“Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Whose hands have gathered up the wind? Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is the name of His Son? Surely you know!” —

The great disconnect—for some, the eternal disconnect—is recognizing the person in this verse as the same person who walked through Passion Week. For those who reject Him as the second person of the Trinity, the eternal God and Savior of the universe, the question becomes: Why? Why would He allow the religious leaders to drag Him through arrest, trial, and crucifixion if He truly is who this verse describes? There are deep theological answers to that question. Articles have been written, sermons eloquently preached, and intimate conversations had. But for me—and maybe for you too—the answer is best seen in one word: love. Agape love—unconditional, sacrificial, humble, all-encompassing, and eternal love. That is why the Son of God, the Creator of the universe—the One who gathered the winds and set the boundaries of the oceans, lakes, and rivers—allowed His hands to be stretched out and nailed to a tree. Love for you and me is why He silently endured the mockery of a trial. That is why He took the torture. Love for you and me—and love for His Father. That love sustained His trust that, three days later, victory would come. And it did. Today, receive His love—and love Him back. #BeTheEdge

“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” — John 1:14 NIV
