“She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.”
Here she is again. Every month with 31 days we encounter the person much of the Kingdom knows as the “Proverbs 31 women”. That’s a good thing. As we have seen in the past she exhibits traits of faithfulness, hard-work, love and so many others that are great glimpses of how a devoted follower of God should live, male or female. God wants us, like this woman, to be diligent and hard working. One commentary made a special effort to let the reader know that God is not applauding not getting enough rest. He designed us to need and appreciate rest. I remember as a young Christian challenging myself to awake at crazy early hours to pray and study scripture as so many of the early saints I was reading about did. Thankfully one day in a conversation with my pastor I mentioned this particular challenge in my disciplines. He laughed and then told me that in the day of those saints it was true that they would rise at 4 or 5 in the morning to pray and read however he let me know that these same saints went to bed at 6 and 7 in the evening. No electricity , tv’s or other sources of distraction made that a bit easier. Also in this verse we are reminded that looking after our family and loved ones is a sign of love and sacrifice. Today be that diligent yet rational servant of God. #BeTheEdge
