Proverbs 5:3 NIV

“For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil;”

The first thing I use to ask my friends when I saw them was, “Have you been reading your bible?” I don’t always do that any more. However, I do try to ascertain if they are spending time in the Word regularly. When I would ask them I made sure they knew they should ask me as well. It made me accountable to be sure I was filling my mind with pure truth. In our world those who are committed, I mean really sold out, to their life of sin can articulate a justification for their actions that can be pretty persuasive. Our rebuttals may be effective but nothing unravels their excuses more effectively and decisively than God’s clear truth. In all arenas of life God’s truth applies. If you must stand against sin, stand. However, more often than not we just need to be able to filter truth from deception in our own minds for our own behavior and life style. Is lying to get an edge ok? Who is called “The Truth” in God’s word? Is abortion wrong? Who knit that child together in their mothers womb? I’m not for pointing out and preaching about everyone else’s sin. That’s the Holy Spirits job. But, they often want to sway you to accept their version of “truth”. Our challenge is to know His truth and be firmly convinced in our heart and mind so we are not persuaded away from Him in our journey. Today stay in His word and file it away as your guide. #BeTheEdge
