“She does not ponder the path of life; her ways are unstable; she does not know it.” Proverbs 5:6 NASB
Sitting back, taking some time and considering what our future should look like is always a good exercise as we seek to grow and walk in God’s will. I don’t think doing that daily is needed, necessarily. But, regularly pausing to consider how I am spending my time, money, and talents as well as what I spend my time thinking about can be helpful. It helps me know if I’m moving in the direction God designed for me. It boils down to what am I doing to grow in my relationship with God, and what in my story is hindering that. Maybe it’s TV or smart devices. Perhaps it’s relationships that move me away from God rather than closer to Him. These things tend to slip into our life quietly and innocently enough. At the beginning of Hebrews 2, the writer paints a picture in the Greek of a man falling asleep in the bow of a gently rocking boat tied to the dock. He awakens well out to sea as the rocking caused the rope to loosen and slip its knot and drift away. If we are not in the regular habit of pondering our choices and direction in life, especially our intentional moves to draw closer to God, we too will look up one day and wonder where God has gone. I assure you, when that happens, He didn’t move. He is sturdier than a dock. Today, take some time and evaluate your current story in view of God’s call on your life. #BeTheEdge
“For this reason, we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.” Hebrews 2:1 NASB
