Proverbs 5:7 NASB

“Now then, my sons, listen to me and do not depart from the words of my mouth.” Proverbs 5:7 NASB

My pastor shared this past Sunday that, prior to the worldwide pandemic and before all the racial tension and the rioting, approximately 15% of Americans read the Bible regularly. In anticipating a significant rise in that number as people find themselves in search of spiritual answers bigger than the challenges of the time, I was stunned to hear that during the current pandemic, the number has fallen to 9%. What in the world! Exactly. What in the world could pull people’s attention from the eternal Savior of the universe, to being captivated by the distress of this temporal world? I’m reminded of Jesus’ story about building your house on the rock prior to the storm. Once the storm hits, it is no easy task to start building on the rock. God’s Word offers a safe haven in the storm. As followers of Christ, we need to spend more time in the presence of our Lord and His words, not less. That is how we will move boldly and powerfully through these days. Today, purpose in your heart to spend more time in God’s Word and hold tight to His eternal truths. #BeTheEdge
