“Bind them always on your heart; fasten them around your neck.” Proverbs 6:21 NIV

I’m not great at memorization. However, the most obscure and irrelevant stuff comes back to me at the strangest times. Useful important info, not so much. Scripture memory has been an important part of my Christian journey. Thankfully at the beginning of my relationship with God I had people in my life who stressed the vital need for committing God’s truths to my mind and heart. It has proven invaluable in my life. Morning prayers for my day or for others come from Bible truths I’ve committed to memory. The same thing happens during counseling others or even personal times of crisis. The Bible refers to the invaluable nature of what God’s words hold. Being able to call it to mind on the spot at critical moments can mean the difference between survival, beating anxiety, finding victory, and more. My wife recently downloaded an app designed to help me get better at this. For accountability feel free to ask me how it’s going memorizing the book of Philippians. Today find a tool or discipline to assist you in retaining God’s Truth in your daily walk and move boldly into your next challenge or opportunity fully equipped with His power.  #BeTheEdge

Here’s a good one to start with. “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalms 119:11 NIV
