Proverbs 6:6 NIV

“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!”

In this verse Solomon compares us to ants and ants never lose in this comparison. If you watch ants you will not see 1000 working diligently and 1 slacking off. Doesn’t happen. If you watch 1000 people or even 100 you are bound to find at least a few who Solomon calls sluggards. That’s such a crummy sounding word. Say it out loud, “sluggard.”I hope no one was around you thinking you were calling them that. There is no playful or joking context where that is a fun word. Solomon clearly and correctly believes that observing the diligence of ants can give a wise lesson in how God created all of us to work and avoid the life of laziness. The consequences of the sluggards life is absolute destruction. There is no scenario where the sluggard has a successful, joy filled journey. If they have a family then the sadness of their story spreads. As we’ve seen before in our walk thru scripture, God designed all of us for work. Billy Graham believes we will work in heaven. If that idea concerns you then you don’t understand work God’s way, you are in the wrong job or you are a sluggard. The Edge has a major focus as a ministry on helping business leaders understand how God created them specifically and where they will find the most fulfillment – and therefore success – in work. We believe it’s that important to live out God’s plan uniquely for you. Today look to the example of the ant, be sure you are in the role God created and gifted you for and be wise. #BeTheEdge
