“till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.”
Being a Christ follower does not make us immune from temptation or yielding to it and falling into sin. It also does not make us immune to the consequences of that sin in our lives. Over the years I counseled too many teenagers who loved God but gave into sexual temptation and found themselves single parents at way too young an age. Other times I’ve sat with believers who were preparing to serve time for a temptation to intentionally misappropriate other peoples money. I’ve also spent much too much time with God followers who were going through a divorce because of giving into the temptation to look to someone else for what only their spouse was designed to provide. These are all dramatic and in each case the person never considered the death of a part of their story coming from being snared in Satan’s cleverly laid trap. However, not all his tests are this dramatic yet they all lead to death in some area of our life. I’ve mentioned before that when I was asked by a teen how close it is ok to get to a sin before it overtakes you I shared that it is typically one step before they slipped over the edge. More correctly it is to stay a mile away from the edge. Today be aware of the cunning enemy and flee even the appearance of evil. #BeTheEdge
