“Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and to insight, “You are my relative.””
I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 40 years ago. Though it doesn’t really slow me down, there are a few things that come with having the disease for that long. Two of my three children are healthcare professionals, and my accountability partner for nearly 35 years is a physician. After a recent text from a family member, I was reminded just how blessed I am to have these people on my journey with me. With my wife waiting for us in heaven, I’m truly not sure how I would survive without them. Many of the men and women God has placed in my story are vital to my life. Solomon makes the same distinction about God’s wisdom in our lives. Matthew Henry puts it this way: “We must lay up God’s commandments safely. Not only, keep them, and you shall live; but, keep them as those that cannot live without them.” My family is not a beautiful addition to my life; they are critical to me having a life. God’s Truth is not just important to store in our hearts and minds to help us live well—it is critical to our very life. Today, grab His truth and plant it deep in your soul. #BeTheEdge
