“I saw among the simple, I noticed among the young men, a youth who had no sense.”
This is a pretty clear description of some of the young people I’ve dealt with for decades in youth and college ministry. Since shifting the majority of my focus to business leaders I don’t see as many but these people are still there as well. Solomon’s description is of a young man headed willy nilly into sexual sin. The truth of this verse goes way beyond those who are just young and dealing with only sexual sin. All ages are capable of acting simple minded and being senseless. The things they walk into can destroy a family, a business or any number of relationships. It is often assumed that age automatically brings wisdom. It is true that when we seek God and His wisdom age gives us a greater ability to expand our wisdom and understanding. But, that is not guaranteed. I have known many older people who were still foolish in their behavior. They did not seek God and His wisdom in their journey through life and therefore wasted the years of growth available to all of us. My desire is to walk in intimacy with God and His children. As a result I desire to be wiser in my life style and decisions today than I was yesterday. Today learn. #BeTheEdge
