“beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud:”
Seems a bit unfair to compare the availability of God’s voice back then to people today doesn’t it? In Solomon’s day there was very little competing noise. They had no internet and social media, no cable news networks, or even the 3 channels with rabbit ears of my childhood (don’t worry about that one kids). Even in Jesus day they didn’t travel but a few miles from their place of birth throughout their entire lives. How many distractions could they possibly have had. I’ve made the case for God’s wisdom not being as available today as it was then. Now for reality. There are over 100 million bibles sold in over 690 languages each year. 3.9 billion have been sold over time. Not only is the Bible widely available, except in a few closed countries, but men and women speaking God’s wisdom is to be found everywhere, from a conversation with a neighbor to widely broadcast podcasts and shows. Major leaders in various industries speak freely about their faith. Here is the point. When Solomon spoke about Wisdom shouting loudly from the gates of the city in his day, we need to recognize we have the same opportunity and maybe more today. In other words we are without excuse in discovering God’s wisdom. Today cherish His Truth and take advantage of it’s ready availability. #BeTheEdge
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5 NIV
