“rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.”
Now there is an upbeat verse. I’ve written about this section a few times. It deals mostly with God’s obvious witness through the creativity, beauty and power in His creation. I am overwhelmed by the presence of His eternal nature in everything we see. Wisdom, personified in this chapter as a woman, is sharing how delighted she is with God’s creation as well. In the clearest sense we see God admiring and enjoying His creation as He did during the initial 6 days when we read about Him commenting on His work. He declares it good. Ultimately Solomon tells us that God’s greatest delight is in man. The ones who would cause the death on the cross of His Son were the very ones who bring Him the greatest delight. Our finite minds can hardly wrap themselves around that eternal truth. What a God we love and serve. Of all the pictures scripture paints for us, and there are so, so many, this may be the greatest glimpse of who He is. Maybe not, but it sure is a beautiful one. Reflect on God and what delights Him and find your joy there as well. #BeTheEdge
