“Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.”
My weekly movie review typically focuses on what movies are opening in the upcoming weekend. Usually, that includes anywhere from one to three wide releases. When it doesn’t, we’ll talk about new streaming content or TV shows. I find myself watching a lot of pieces of both movies and shows. Add in my interest in all things politics, and I can easily end up with a lot of screen time. This verse always challenges me to reflect on—and at times, rearrange—my viewing habits. It becomes especially problematic when I neglect time in Scripture or other healthy reading. It can also take time away from more meaningful ministry opportunities. I love spending time with my family. Jesus loves to spend time with His family, too. He stands ready to reveal deep things to us as we meet with Him in a quiet place. Recognizing who He is—and what we’re trading that time for—should convict and correct us. He is the Creator of the universe. The life giver of all things living. The Artist behind the most beautiful and intricate objects in all creation. And He awaits time with me. How foolish it is to miss it. Today, evaluate where your focus is. #BeTheEdge
