Proverbs 8:9 NIV

“To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge.” Proverbs 8:9 NIV

I often think about who Solomon is talking about in this chapter when he refers to the discerning and those who have found knowledge. I recently came across the phrase ‘an honest mind.’ I love that phrase. In the midst of all the difficult conversations that have taken and are taking place in the world, and especially these days, I want to believe I’m operating with an honest mind. Honest words and behavior can be faked for a while. However, a truly honest life, consistently lived over the long haul, has to be the byproduct of a genuinely honest mind. The term doesn’t mean one is perfect or always right, it doesn’t even reflect them being right all that often. It simply means we are working on having our minds filled with God’s truth and the reality that accompanies that truth. I had lunch with a prominent local attorney the other day when the conversation turned toward what we as Christians know is ‘real’.  If what we see contradicts what God’s word says, what do we live by? Understand that, as the Creator of time, God operates outside the limitations of time. That is a mind-blowing truth. Incomprehensible by us actually. Our limitations do not dictate God’s eternal truth. The understanding and knowledge of this chapter goes well beyond our finite experience. Today, seek God in His truth and live with an honest, Spirit-controlled mind. #BeTheEdge
