Proverbs 9:6 NIV

“Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of insight.”

The Bible encourages a simple life. In this verse, and often throughout Proverbs, the word for “simple” is better translated as “foolish.” Here, Solomon clearly encourages us to remove foolish thinking and behavior from our lives. The longer we allow foolish behavior to remain part of our journey, the harder it is to get rid of it when we finally realize what God has been telling us. Once conviction—or perhaps just the consequences of our destructive actions—makes us see that God is right, the foolishness can be deeply ingrained. It takes supernatural intervention to remove it, and this process of removal can be painful but absolutely necessary. Thankfully, God loves us and is committed to conforming us to the image of His Son. Therefore, we will ultimately turn from sinful patterns and walk in His leading. The sooner we yield to His guidance, the better it will be for us and those around us. Today, turn from sin and walk in the light. #BeTheEdge
