Proverbs 9:6 NIV

“Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of insight.”

Solomon is brilliant in his simplicity. Think about that. In this chapter he clearly lays out the way of God (Wisdom) in verse 1 and following Him as opposed to the way of Satan (folly) starting in verse 13. This is similar to what was experienced by their ancestors in Deuteronomy when, “…in advance of the Israelites entry to the Promised Land Deut. 11:29 records Moses’ direction that “when the Lord your God has brought you into the land which you go to possess, that you shall put the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal”. As the tribes walked between them they had ringing in their ears and clear in their minds eye what living wisely verses foolishly would look like. In this chapter and throughout Proverbs and all of scripture we get the same opportunity to see these options clearly as well. The choice to know and follow God is given to everyone, obviously my Calvinist brethren have a deeper explanation. However, whatever your theology we all understand that sinful living or godly living is within everyone’s grasp. Understanding the choice is simple. Making the correct one can be a challenge. Today choose the way of the wise and watch Gods blessing arrive. #BeTheEdge
