As a colonist, Paul Revere was prepared. “One if by land, two if by sea.” I had to memorize Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem as a child. As a successful silversmith, Revere demonstrated His faith. His most famous work, the baptism of Jesus, was not just a beautiful work of art. It was a glimpse at his belief in the Savior. C.S. Lewis once said that there is not a single square inch in the universe that is neutral. Each is owned by either God or Satan and they are all being fought over at every moment. Including the square inches you occupy. Thankfully, this truth is accompanied by two others; one, He is battling for us and two, greater is He who is in us than He who is in the world. We need to walk in His will consistently, in His full armor. That is being prepared. And allow Him to whip the enemy. That is His victory. Today, recognize the battle is raging and keep up your guard. Then, enjoy His wins.
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11 NASB
