Proverbs 23:33 NIV

Solomon‘s main message in this verse is that when you get drunk you are prone to see things from a perspective that is at best confusing and at worst deceiving and bizarre. Most of us have seen someone who has had too much to drink and acted erratically based on their skewed perspective. It is obviously dangerous to live where your world paints false pictures of the reality around you. Often it has led to drunk drivers who believe they really are in control of their car or comments made that were unintended or were heard from a poorly filtered view. All these can lead to bad reactions. People have been hurt and even killed in fights because of misunderstandings while under the influence. The list goes on and on. For those who don’t drink or drink responsibly there is still a warning in this verse. We are all capable of allowing things as simple as our emotions to cause us to react poorly and in ways that hurt everyone involved. It is so important to have a life guided by the Holy Spirit without distractions getting in the way. As God’s Spirit leads we become instruments of peace and love rather than turmoil. Today keep your mind clear of influences that would interfere with kingdom thinking and allow God to interpret and direct your actions. #BeTheEdge
