“The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.”
Very few people have wealth to the point that their children and grandchildren will never need to work. There are some but it is a rare exception. The wise ones who do don’t let it get in the way of training their children in a strong and Biblical work ethic. This chapter deals with the contrast between those who work diligently and those who are slackers. Solomon was essentially handed a kingdom and wealth by his father. His father came from being a shepherd boy to king of the nation. God’s favored nation at that. Then it was passed with its land, possessions and riches to his son. To his credit Solomon governed and worked hard and grew what he was handed. Similarly as children of God, heirs in His Kingdom, we could rest on the fact that our eternity is secured. But, why? The exciting life of walking in intimacy, adventure and power is a much more impactful way to live. The life lived on the promise of “fire insurance”, essentially avoiding hellp and nothing more, not only sounds boring, it is! We are saved from our sins to live a life of being salt and light in a world that needs some true flavor and vision. Today live fully and bring joy to your family and your Heavenly Father. #BeTheEdge
