Proverbs 10:2 NIV

“Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers from death.” ‬‬

I have always been intrigued by movie plots about stolen artwork. Pieces of art so valuable and well known that the one who stole it or the one who ends up with it just hides it and never lets it be seen lest they be arrested for the theft. What a waste. I suppose, as the movie plot proposes, that viewing it on your own is of some value. In the same way Solomon reminds us that anything we get through nefarious or sinful means will turn out to be worthless. In the end no treasure accumulated on earth will matter anyway. The old sayings “you can’t take it with you” or “there are no u-hauls at funerals” are true. Ultimately we will all die and all we are left with is the condition of our soul. One that has spent its journey chasing earthly treasure is found empty while one that pursued the righteousness of our Savior finds eternal life waiting. It is a trustworthy statement that “he who dies with the most toys still dies.” Scripture puts it this way, “It is appointed to man to die once and that to face judgement.” Things and stuff are not evil in and of themself. How we acquire them and why determines that. Today pursue the righteousness of God and find your life in Him. #BeTheEdge

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Jesus
