Proverbs 11:2 NIV

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”

I’m watching a large company crumble under the weight of their CEO caught in scandal. They tried to hide it. Then they tried to ignore it. Once clearly exposed they tried to justify it. Finally they arrogantly proclaimed there was nothing wrong with the behavior and everyone should just butt out. Now they crumble. The prideful arrogance of the leadership came from believing they were to important to suffer the consequences of their choices. There are serious questions about their survival. In a very real sense it is widely known if they had initially owned their mistakes, apologized and sought to put in place policies to prevent a repeat, there might have been a few rough months, but they would have survived and ultimately thrived. Solomon’s counsel in this verse definitely has very deep spiritual implications but on a very practical level they also have an impact. On the other hand humility, aligning our vision with God’s, not only comes from wisdom it also multiplies our access to wisdom. Today recognize where pride seeks to control your story and let humility replace it. #BeTheEdge

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” James 4:10 NIV
