“for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight;”

Solomon let’s us know the purpose of Proverbs in this verse. Have you ever struggled to sort through all the ‘counsel’ available to you these days. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for insight and wisdom on marriage, raising kids, growing old, business or any of 100’s of challenges and decisions we make regularly, there is books, tapes, podcasts and numerous ways to find it. The problem at times is that there is too much out there. A lot of it seems really good but is often contradictory to each other. The beautiful thing about Proverbs and all of the Bible is that none of it is contradictory and it comes from an impeccable, all wise source. Let’s face it, if I want the best advice on a piece of equipment I would look to the manufacturer, the one who built it. Other advice and counsel for our lives can be great. All it needs to do is line up with God’s revealed truth and you’re in a good place. If it doesn’t line up with God’s word than no matter how good it sounds let it go. The best of all preachers challenge us to take what they teach and hold it up against scripture. Conversely, the most dangerous tell us only they know God’s mind on an issue. Today listen to counsel then run it through the flawless grid of God’s truth. #BeTheEdge
